Advertising Policy
• Advertising must conform to the laws of Ontario and Canada including the University of Windsor Human Rights Policy. Without limiting the foregoing, The Lance shall not run any advertising that contains a racist, sexist or otherwise prejudicial substance or tone Publisher reserves the right to omit, revise or reject any advertisement at any time
• Errors do happen. It is standard newspaper policy to grant credit only if an error obviously and materially affects the drawing power of the ad.
• Full credits are rare, and in no case can our liability exceed the cost of the space actually occupied
• Advertiser and agency agree to indemnify, defend and save harmless the publisher from any and all liability for content of advertisements printed (including, but not limited to text, illustrations, photos, sketches, maps or other copyrighted material
• Prior to publication, the Production Manager shall ensure that all advertising shall conform to our policies. Any advertisement that may violate this policy will be brought to the attention of the Editor-in-Chief who will provide the ad to The Lance Editorial Board to vote on whether or not the ad(s) in question violates this policy. The Editor-in-Chief will not run the ad(s) if 213 of the Editorial Board determine that the ad violates this Policy.
• Where any Lance staff (including the Editor-in-Chief) has a personal relationship with a customer or the agents or employees of the customer, that person(s) will be deemed to have a professional conflict of interest and will refrain from being involved in any aspect of the decision making process. For the purpose of this policy, conflict of interest will be defined as in article 2.0 of University of Windsor Senate Policy C1: Conflict of Interest or Commitment.
